Melissa and I ventured out to OC Pride this weekend with Miss Loren Grace. Loren slept most of the time. OC Pride is tiny…I’m pretty sure the beer tent at San Diego Pride (which is considered small) is larger than OC Pride… To be honest the only reason we went is because I really wanted to have our pictures taken and be part of the NOH8 (No Hate) photo shoot. It was a really nice day, Kat and Sabrina went with us and there were lots of little families pushing strollers around!
(Photo: It was so hard to make a serious face!)
Here’s a blurb from the NOH8 website for those of you who aren’t familiar with this campaign.
The NOH8 Campaign is a photographic silent protest created by celebrity photographer Adam Bouska and partner Jeff Parshley in direct response to the passage of Proposition 8. Photos feature subjects with duct tape over their mouths, symbolizing their voices being silenced by Prop 8 and similar legislation around the world, with “NOH8” painted on one cheek in protest.
An array of celebrities have participated in the campaign: Kathy Griffin, Cindy McCain (yes you read that right), The Kardashian sisters, Dr. Drew, Steve-O, Marlee Martin, Hoobastank, and the list really goes on and on and on…
Adam was genuinely super nice. He was working his ass off and still took the time to be friendly AND show us a few of the shots he had taken. Maybe the baby played a big role in that, who could not be nice to that adorable little face? I mean really!?
I sort of love that our first professionally taken family photo is making a statement and making a stand for something that is important to us. The down side is that Adam Bouska is only one person and I’m certain we won’t see our finished photo for a while!
I’ll post the real deal once we have it! 🙂
