>growing and growing…

>Finally uploaded a bunch of pics so I could start working on our next scrapbook. What I’ve learned about Mel’s pregnancy – is that her wardrobe doesn’t have much variation!

>3d/4d Ultrasound

>It was very exciting to see the baby again today! The ultrasound tech said she was very well behaved and we couldn’t have gotten better pictures!

>Window Tint…

>It’s official Melissa is never going to get her window’s tinted.

After her Jetta died last October she had to get a new car…with black leather seats – OIY! The real down fall is that the windows have almost no tint on them. So, the plan since October has been to get the windows tinted. However, it seems like every time we have “extra” money to do it something else comes up.

For Example, Boston has been acting lethargic and weird for a few days so we took him to the vet yesterday…$255 later – Melissa isn’t getting her windows tinted.

Other things that lead to no tint –
my air conditioner stopped working in my car
our earthquake insurance is due
attorney fees
adoption fees
my dental fees

Side note: The dog is feeling much better, he’s taking meds and we are trying to make him rest…the best we can!

Ahh adulthood you are not what I dreamed you would be.

>More Conversations from Marriage…

>Melissa: {sings} on top of spaghetti
Darcie: {sings – all the way to} rolled out the door.
Mel: it goes on after that….I bet it’s a book…it would make a cute book…with little meatball adventures
Dar: yeah – rolling down the street {looks around}…sippin on gin and juice…
Mel: umm, I don’t think that’s how it goes….

It’s almost time for the 3d/4d ultrasound! I can’t wait to see how much my little monkey has grown in the last 10 weeks!

Our friend Mo is coming in tomorrow night to hang out for the holiday weekend and (mostly) to go to the ultrasound with us. I actually have no idea who all is planning on going.

I recommended the place we are going to my boss and she got to see her little boy last night! She said he was moving around a lot and he was already really big! (She’s due the week after Melissa!) She also said that the projector screen wasn’t working at the ultrasound place…which is a total bummer…I hope that is fixed by Saturday!

We have a busy few weeks ahead of us…Mo’s coming, Bekah’s coming a few weeks later, then Mo and Mel’s parents come again for the shower…

>the more you know…TING

>Things I learned yesterday:

When you’re pregnant your body makes significantly more blood for the baby.

The small capillaries in the nose don’t really handle “significantly more blood” very well.

Pregnant women get nose bleeds…easily…frequently…

Melissa is thankful she wore black yesterday…

>long day…sleepless nights

>Yesterday looked like this for me:

6:25am – clock goes off…snooze
6:35am – snooze
6:45 am – snooze
6:55 am- FINE I’M UP! (my clock is persistent)
7:00 am- shower, get dressed, pack lunch/breakfast
7:30 am- leave house and find caffeinated beverage
7:50 am – arrive at work, ignore creepy security guard.
8:00am – 10:00 am – I’m way busy
10:00am – 11:45am – work on the final for my nutrition class
11:45am – eat lunch
1:00pm – work on final for my earthquakes class
3:00 pm – get REALLY busy again…
4:30pm – finally get to go home…
4:45pm – arrive home, find Mel in bed with headache. Ponder dinner…
5:15pm – clean kitchen, cook fajitas, clean kitchen again
6:30 pm – watch some tv
8:30 pm – find bright red, hairless patch on worlds cutest miniature schnauzer…
9:00pm – bathe and dry dog
10:30 pm – get in bed…I’m exhausted…

little did I know there would be very little sleep
Between the cat (who remains clingy), the dog (who I was worried about so I woke up everytime he moved) , and the pregnant wife I got very little sleep….

I may be delirious…am I even writing this?

>weekends are always too short…

>I’m a little concerned about the cat. He’s shedding like none other – like giant chucks of black fur (so gross) and he’s drinking more water than normal (in turn using his box more often…which means more works for me! GRR). By no means do we have the money to take the cat to the vet for a bunch of tests! He isn’t acting sick or anything…so for now I’m assuming he’s shedding and drinking in preparation for summer.

As a side note, because the cat is shedding like crazy the need to vacuum has increased. We have a fancy schmancy vacuum that’s especially for pet hair. I fired up the vacuum and it was SO LOUD! Like this high pitched scream…uh oh something is not right.

The noise was very reminiscent of the time Melissa accidentally set the alarm off at Joel and Michelle’s at 6:00am when we were dog sitting…I seriously lost some of my ability to hear that day.

So, I lint rolled the majorly hairy spots and shoved the vacuum back in the closet and prayed it will be quieter next time. That was the logical move…right?

>The Tivo Revolution…

>Tivo truly has revolutionized my television life. I don’t know what I did before I had the option to record multiple shows at once…how on earth did I ever choose? Grey’s Anatomy vs. CSI, Private Practice vs. The Mentalist, Survivor vs. Bones…and that’s just on Thursday night.

I realize my lazy days of watching “my shows” will be limited once the baby gets here, which makes all of these season finales very painful! Will I ever know if Meredith and Derick have a baby or if Patrick Jane finally catches Red John?

Don’t even get me started on Mondays…Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, House, CSI: Miami and Chuck? (I like Tuesday’s just as much…NCIS, NCIS: LA, The Good Wife, Idol, and Glee….sigh)

Melissa’s sister has told us more than once that our TV watching days are over, at last count she was 23 days behind on her soap opera…at least I dont watch any shows that air every day. Another friend, who has twin 3 years olds, was 4 weeks behind on Survivor as of the finale…

I’m going to need a Tivo with a larger storage capacity.

Oh TV…I’m really gonna miss you the most (possibly even more than my beloved friend, SLEEP).

>blah blah blah…

>Went to meet the attorney yesterday. I’d like to tell you that it went amazingly, but that would be a lie.

First, we chose this specific firm (our second choice, because our first choice moved to Phoenix) because he is a member of several gay friendly organizations and his website says he has experience with same sex clients. For crying out loud we found him in the gay yellow pages. However, I would say his immediate knowledge of same sex couples and their legal rights is limited – at best. He was unprepared because the “office girl” didn’t give him all of the details regarding our needs.

My favorite part of the conversation:

Attorney: So, you’re married.
Darcie: Yes
Attorney: Well, you know if you guys ever go to Iraq, Iran, or Saudi Arabia
Darcie and Mel: {stare in disbelief}
Attorney: You guys would need to pretend to be sisters…
Darcie: Umm, we have no intentions of traveling to the middle east…
Attorey: Because you guys are really lucky to live in California…people are more accepting here…
Darcie: Yeah, we travel to Mississippi…it’s practically the same thing as Iraq…{Insert Sarcasm Here}
Mel: {Still in a state of disbelief}

He was friendly, and I know he was trying to be nice…but it was freakin’ weird.

(Side note, when I told him about Mississippi – he noted it on his piece of paper and spelled it “Missippi”…)

He will be handling our legal documents (i.e. will, power of attorney…etc) and referring us to an adoption attorney. I, however, will also research those on my own (hopefully today).

It seems like I will definitely have to adopt the baby. I know it’s a huge pain in the ass, but I don’t want there to be any issues down the road.

more to come…
